“AI Attitudes Survey 2024” reveals that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is viewed positively by 60% of the UK public, a 10% increase from 2020. This change in attitude is largely due to a growing understanding of AI and its benefits. The survey also highlights that 70% of respondents believe AI will have a significant impact on society within five years. Despite this, there is a clear need for increased transparency and regulation, with 80% of respondents calling for stricter AI governance.

The survey identifies education, health, and manufacturing as sectors where AI is expected to bring the most benefits. However, worries persist about job loss due to automation, with 50% of respondents fearing AI will eliminate more jobs than it creates.

Gender and age also play a role in AI perception. Men and younger generations are more likely to view AI positively, while women and older individuals are more sceptical. This suggests a need for targeted education and awareness campaigns to address these differences.

Lastly, the public’s trust in AI is influenced by the source of the technology. Tech companies are trusted the least, while universities and healthcare organisations are trusted the most. This indicates that the public is more likely to accept AI solutions from institutions that have a history of trust and reliability.
