There’s a story Europe tells about itself that’s half-true, which makes it more dangerous than a complete lie. The story goes: Europe is falling behind in innovation. It lacks the entrepreneurial culture, the risk appetite, the capital. If only European founders were more like Americans (or, alas, the Chinese), if only Brussels got out of the way, the continent could reclaim its technological destiny.
