It’s not hard to picture the A.I. bubble going bust. But it’s also possible to imagine all the ways that even a normal future for the technology would prove, alongside the disruptions and degradations, immensely useful as well: for drug development and materials discovery, for energy efficiency and better management of our electrical grid, for far more rapidly reducing barriers to entry for artists than Bandcamp or Pro Tools ever did.
