EXPLORING SOCIAL TOOLS TO ENABLE NEW WAYS OF WORKING

Confronted with an ever growing social tech landscape, Bombardier Transportation were looking for a detailed strategy to guide their journey.

Bombardier Transportation identified a gap in their toolset for social technologies, but wanted to explore the business potential and high-value areas before choosing a toolset.

They approached us to work with them to identify opportunities for new ways of working, cultural change and encouraging new behaviours, in addition to evaluating the various technology options.

 

 

 

INTERACTIVE, ITERATIVE STRATEGY CREATION METHODOLOGY

We used an iterative approach to strategy development, which required a high level of involvement from stakeholders at every level in the organisation. Combining interactive workshops on the shop floor with one-to-one interviews with key senior stakeholders across divisions and regions , we created a rich view of the group’s needs.

This allowed us to create a long-term vision for digital transformation enabled by social technology, coupled with a tactical implementation plan that included adoption, new ways of working, cultural change, behaviours, leadership approaches and employee engagement.

 

 

ACTIONABLE STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK

The social strategy we produced allowed Bombardier Transportation to identify quick-win, high-value use cases with which to pilot the technology, and new ways of working, ahead of a change in leadership. The core project team had gained enough knowledge through the project to continue running and evaluating the pilot projects, with no additional support.

At the end of the pilot phase, a focused set of user stories was produced, which allowed Bombardier Transportation to focus on crucial features during the technology procurement phase.
