London’s Tech City, also known as Silicon Roundabout, is set to undergo a transformation with the construction of a new skyscraper highway. This development, located between Old Street and Shoreditch High Street, will feature a cluster of tall buildings, each offering stunning views over the city. The first of these, Principal Tower, is a 50-storey residential building with 273 luxury flats, a gym, a cinema, and a residents’ lounge.
In addition, City Road Basin, a previously overlooked area, is being revitalised with the construction of two new residential towers. Lexicon, a 36-storey tower, and Chronicle Tower, a 26-storey building, will provide a total of 307 new homes. Both towers will offer striking waterside views and are expected to attract a young, tech-savvy demographic.
Moreover, the area’s industrial heritage is being preserved through the redevelopment of The Eagle Black, a former art deco cinema. This building will house 206 new flats, a spa, and a private screening room.
The transformation of Tech City is indicative of London’s shifting property landscape, with developers capitalising on the area’s tech boom to create a new residential hub. This trend is expected to continue, with several other developments planned for the area.
