Swiss Re’s Chief Information Officer, Rainer Baumann, has detailed the company’s digital workplace strategy. This strategy focuses on empowering employees and fostering innovation. Baumann believes that a digital workplace is more than just technology; it’s about creating a culture that enables employees to work anywhere, anytime, and on any device.

To achieve this, Swiss Re has implemented a number of initiatives, including a cloud-first approach, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to automate processes, and the development of a digital dexterity programme to upskill employees. The company also uses data analytics to make informed decisions and improve performance.

Baumann also highlighted the importance of security in the digital workplace. He stated that while the company does not want to restrict employee freedom, it is crucial to ensure that data is secure. To ensure this, Swiss Re has developed a zero-trust security model.

Baumann sees the digital workplace as a journey, not a destination. He believes that companies need to continually adapt and evolve their strategies to stay ahead in the digital age. He also emphasised the importance of employees in this journey, stating that they are the ones who bring the digital workplace to life.
