Amsterdam is gaining a reputation as a hub of gourmet marijuana dining, with a growing trend of eight-course meals designed to get diners high. These meals are not just about the high, but also about the flavours, with chefs carefully pairing different strains of marijuana with complementary foods. The experience begins with a cocktail infused with THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana, followed by dishes such as foie gras, truffle pasta, and wagyu beef, each paired with a different strain of marijuana. Each course is designed to give a different type of high, from a mellow, relaxed feeling to a more energetic, creative buzz. The meals are served in a secret location to a small group of diners, who are given the address only a few days before the event. The cost is around €100 per person. Despite the legality of marijuana in Amsterdam, these meals are still in a legal grey area, as the law only allows for personal use, not for serving in a commercial setting. The organisers are careful to stay within the law, with diners bringing their own marijuana to be used in the meal.
