A recent survey reveals that business leaders are apprehensive about returning to the office (RTO) amid ongoing COVID-19 concerns. HR professionals have been tasked with managing the transition, with 77% of respondents stating that business leaders are ‘scared’ about RTO. The report, conducted by HR software provider CIPHR, also found that 71% of HR professionals feel ‘overwhelmed’ by the RTO process.
The study highlights the increased pressure on HR departments, with 64% of respondents stating they are working longer hours, and 61% reporting increased stress levels. Despite this, 58% of HR professionals believe their organisations are well-prepared for RTO.
CIPHR’s survey also revealed that 75% of HR professionals feel their role has become more strategic since the pandemic began. They are now more involved in decision-making processes, particularly around RTO planning. This has led to 69% of respondents feeling more valued by their organisations.
Despite the challenges, HR professionals are optimistic about the future. 73% believe the pandemic has accelerated positive change within their organisations, including increased flexibility and improved employee wellbeing. However, they also acknowledge the need for further support, with 68% stating they require more resources to manage the RTO process effectively.
