OpenAI has launched two new artificial intelligence services: ChatGPT API and Whisper API. ChatGPT API is designed to enable developers to incorporate the functionalities of ChatGPT into their applications, products, or services. It’s a versatile tool that can be used in various scenarios including drafting emails, writing Python code, creating conversational agents, tutoring, language translation, and simulating characters for video games.
Whisper API, on the other hand, is an automatic speech recognition (ASR) system that was trained on a vast amount of multilingual and multitask supervised data collected from the web. ASR technology is essential for transcribing spoken language into written text, and Whisper API makes this process more efficient and accurate.
OpenAI has also made adjustments to its pricing structure. The use of the ChatGPT API will now incur a separate cost, distinct from the cost of using the ChatGPT Plus subscription. The Whisper ASR API is no longer free in the playground from March 1st, 2023.
These developments are part of OpenAI’s commitment to improving and expanding its artificial intelligence offerings, with the ultimate goal of ensuring artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity.
