Gartner, a global research and advisory firm, has acquired CEB, a best practice insight and technology company, for $2.6 billion. This strategic move is expected to strengthen Gartner’s services in human resources (HR), sales, finance, and legal areas. The acquisition will also enhance Gartner’s ability to help clients make informed decisions and drive business performance.

CEB’s in-depth HR expertise will complement Gartner’s existing services, allowing them to provide a more comprehensive suite of solutions to their clients. The deal will also integrate CEB’s team of talented professionals into Gartner’s workforce, broadening their collective knowledge and skills.

The acquisition is expected to generate significant financial benefits for Gartner, including $25 to $50 million in annual cost synergies. It will also provide an opportunity for Gartner to expand its client base, as CEB currently works with 90% of the Fortune 500.

The deal has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies and is expected to close in the first half of 2017, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
