The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Ilkka Kanerva voiced concern over the escalating violence in Ukraine, calling for an immediate ceasefire. He stressed the importance of upholding the Minsk agreements and urged all parties to respect the ceasefire and withdraw heavy weapons. Kanerva also emphasised the need for unrestricted access for OSCE observers to monitor the situation.

In the same vein, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ivica Dacic highlighted the deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, particularly in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He underscored the need for all sides to show restraint and respect for the Minsk agreements. Dacic stressed that the parties involved must ensure the safety and freedom of movement for OSCE observers.

Both Kanerva and Dacic affirmed the OSCE’s readiness to support Ukraine in implementing the Minsk agreements and called for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. They emphasised that dialogue is the only viable solution, expressing hope for a constructive role from all OSCE participating States. The officials also highlighted the importance of humanitarian aid for civilians affected by the conflict.
