Human Resources (HR) departments are adopting a diluted form of Agile management, known as Agile-lite, to address the rapid changes in today’s business environment, according to Harvard Business Review. Agile management, a methodology that originated in the software development industry, promotes flexibility, speed, customer-centricity, and collaboration. However, HR departments often only adopt some aspects of Agile, hence the term Agile-lite, due to the challenges of implementing a complete Agile transformation.
These challenges include the necessity for a shift in mindset, the requirement for an enabling infrastructure, and the need for HR to move away from traditional administrative and compliance roles. Despite these hurdles, Agile-lite is seen as a suitable alternative, providing a balance between the traditional HR approach and the full Agile methodology.
Agile-lite allows HR to remain relevant and effective in a rapidly changing business landscape by focusing on customer needs, enabling quick decision-making, and promoting collaboration. While there are concerns about the partial adoption of Agile, Agile-lite is viewed as a positive step towards a more responsive HR function.
